Traveling to Westside for the Varsity football game on August 28th was worth the trip across the river for the Wolfpack, who brought home a 27-8 victory. The game was especially victorious for senior Lawson Gunn, who earned himself a school record by running a 95-yard pick-6. Previously the record was held by Elijah Richards, Class of 2026.
Richards held that record since last years homecoming, with a 92-yard rushing touch down. Gunn and Richards played together for the Wolfpack for the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
Varsity head coach Jermaine Wilson shared that his view of the scoring drive from the sidelines was great. “Gunn has an extraordinary ability to read the game and set the team up for a great play.” Wilson continued that this play was the “perfect set-up”. While it is exciting to see Gunn earn this record, the team did a great job supporting him. Coach Wilson added, “He had an extraordinary group of guys covering his front, letting him run downfield”.
